Senior Portrait Session on Lake Minnetonka

This week brought several sessions on Lake Minnetonka--first was a senior portrait session with Nick at the Lake Minnetonka Regional Park in the Mound/Minnetrista area.  This park is popular for its children's swimming area, but I loved it for senior portraits because of its wild-looking natural areas, plus a fishing pier, and as a bonus we stumbled upon a VERY old, ruined house in the woods (SO COOL!!!)  Don't tell the park rangers: we kind of hopped the fence ;-P    We also took advantage of the opportunity to get a few shots of his sister, Taylor, and the two of them together, which worked out quite nicely, don't you think?

My sister's senior portraits on-location at Lake Michigan

Greetings from Iowa!  I'm back in my hometown after a lovely week in Michigan with my family, doing lots of lovely summertime Michigan things--laying on the beach, picking blueberries, bike rides along the lake…   :-)   …and while we were there we decided to take advantage of the lovely location for a senior portrait shoot with my sister and her best friend (though I still can't believe my little sister is going to be a senior!!!)  The advantages and disadvantages of being related to a photographer--they got the royal treatment for their senior portraits, but I drug them out of bed at 5am to catch the best beach-light of the day ;-)  They were a little cranky by the time afternoon rolled around, but I think everyone agrees that it was worth it!

Double shoot means lots of pictures!  I'd love to hear your comments--tell me which ones are your favorites…

Senior Portraits in St. Paul

I think St. Paul is my new favorite place to shoot senior portraits--I know it has a lot of character, but I always forget just how incredible it really is! Just driving around I bet I saw ten spots I'd love to use, including a couple of the places I took Nikki on Saturday, which became instant favorites.  We had so much fun!  She was such a sweetheart, and except for the occasionally gusty wind--and some sort of street fair downtown which involved masses of families, white tents, and little girls on stilts (seriously!)--it was a PERFECT day to be outside.  And we got kicked out of a historical site, so you know the shoot was a success.  (Not for bad behavior, thank you very much, turns out they don't allow photo shoots without special permission and a little moolah--shame on you, St. Paul!  Share the wealth!  ;-)  So thank you VERY much to Nikki and her family for a great senior portrait day, and they couldn't wait to see the pictures so without further ado, here they are!
