Family Portraits: all these beautiful girls

Luckily this dad has an above-average sense of humor, no doubt honed over the last 6 years of sharing his house with his three lovely ladies.  Abby and Ella were more than happy to clown around for my camera in the back AND front yards, and turned on the smiles for some great family portraits, bubbling over with laughter with very little help needed from me.  A particular favorite picture of mine is the closeup of Ella and her daddy, where I think we can all see where she gets her good looks from--I swear they have the same face, just 30 years apart!  And their mom & dad were excellent models, too-- especially since getting engaged myself, there's nothing I like better than to photograph a "grown-up" couple who have just as much fun as if it were their engagement session!!

Wow it's September…  I don't know about you, but for me this has been one heck of a crazy-wonderful summer!  But I'm caught up now, and ready to share some of the photographic highlights with you all, so keep checking in for my favorite shoots and shots from the last couple of months, as well as big news and changes to come for Maya K. Family portraits with lots of laughs in Excelsior

Had a fantastic family portrait session with the Hughes family a few days ago--my first photo shoot in Excelsior, Minnesota, with I'm sure many more to come because I'm moving there in less than two weeks!  (SO excited!  More on that very soon :-)  And these guys were a ton of fun, because they were exceptionally good at keeping each other laughing and MORE than willing to do so, plus their grandparents and cousin were visiting, so the whole family got to join in.  The girls were very cute and silly, and super excited to be together again--seriously, if every family had this much fun just chilling together in the park, my job would be way too easy! 

Family portrait shoot in the great outdoors

Today I have some favorite portrait shots from a family session last week--mom, dad, two teenage girls, and an incredible backyard with honest-to-goodness woods AND one of my favorite things in the whole world for a backdrop: tall weeds!!! I was so excited--I have been keeping my eyes peeled everywhere I go in the Twin Cities for tall, golden weeds in any spot more private than the ditch between the highways, and now I know where they've all been hiding, cuz this neighborhood was a goldmine.  And the girls didn't even mind standing in the slightly questionable ankle-deep water to get a good shot!  They were very good sports, and so cute, too--it was really hard to choose just a few…
